18 December 2003 Herbst HRM 6.0.1.52 - The first version for 2004

This version incorporates amendments to PRSI contribution and taxation of Benefits In Kinds coming into effect from 1 January 2004. Besides it includes improved Pension, Holiday and Job modules. Our customers can upgrade their software via Support Center. Major amendments are listed below.

  • Benefits in Kind taxable through PAYE system.
  • Annual PRSI contribution ceiling for employees' PRSI has been increased to EUR 42160.
  • Additional voluntary contribution (AVC) to pension fund.
  • Two methods of Holiday pay calculation (manual and automatic) in timesheets.
  • Redesigned Job module including improved job reports.
  • File attachments in Employee, Timesheet, Job, Accident, Safety Statement and Working Contract windows.


3 November 2003 Herbst Backup Scheduler 1.0.4.30

Among new features and improvements in this version are the following:

  • Processing database servers on local network computers.
  • Detecting programme instances on other terminal sessions.
  • Disable command line parameter which runs programme with disabled scheduler.
  • Users can be logged on as members of Power Users (not only Administrators) group for database servers processing.
  • If tasks are edited from any programme instance, they are refreshed in all instances.
  • Other interface and usability improvements, and bug fixes.


28 October 2003 Herbst Insight 2.0.24.390

This new version includes the following major new features and improvements:

  • Consignee Quick View.
  • Haulier Quick View.
  • Service Charges wizard which replaced the corresponding procedure. It helps to make service charges on overdue customer accounts.
  • Excel import/export of product BOMs.
  • Sales List->Items: the set of available columns has been significantly increased (it coincides with the set of available columns of the Sales Items List now).
  • Purchases List->Items: the set of available columns has been significantly increased (it coincides with the set of available columns of the Purchase Items List now).
  • The Items toolbar button works on multi-selection now (the selected documents must be of one kind).
  • The Attachment Count column which displays the number of object attachments, has been added to 87 lists.

- Facility to enter both fixed salary and hourly payments in one timesheet.

- New field Holidays Accrual Kind in Employee dialog defines how holidays are accrued: by worked hours or by worked days.
- Facility to specify hourly rates which are used for holidays accrual and holiday pay calculation.
- New predefined algorithm of holiday pay calculation in Timesheet dialog and Timesheet Quick Entry.

A new version of our flagship product Herbst Insight 2, incorporating new types of bank transactions, new wizards, improved export to EFTS files and other features, has been released. Among the major new features and improvements are:

  • New types of bank transactions: Receive Direct Debit Transfer, Issue Direct Debit Transfer, Receive Standing Order Transfer, Issue Standing Order Transfer, Receive Card, Issue Card, Receive Journal, Issue Journal.

3 September 2003 Herbst Insight 2.0.22.375

This update to the previously released version incorporates extended SMS functionality, new quick edit utilities and other improvements and bug fixes. Below is a list of all major new features:

  • Possibility to create contacts with the traders, send SMS messages and e-mails to them added to the Create Pending Periodic Transactions Window

  • The Daybook is divided into the Daybook by Post Date and the Daybook by Enter Date. Each of them displays documents according to the date specified.

  • Credit Control for Weigh in for Purchase Documents added

  • Quick Edit Utilities - Set Rebate and Round Rebate - added to the shortcut menu of the Products List

  • Possibility to edit product properties moved from the three-dot button to the shortcut menu on the Special Prices and on the Rebates tabs of the Customer Quick View. By clicking on the three-dot button now you can select another product. The same changes were applied to the Prices tab of the Contract Quick View.

  • Possibility to edit customer properties moved from the three-dot button to the shortcut menu on the Rebates, Special Prices and Contract Prices tabs of the Sale Pricing tab in the Product Quick View. By clicking on the three-dot button now you can select another customer.

  • Bug fixes in Document Validation procedure and applying Service Charges

29 August 2003 Herbst Insight 2.0.22.373

A new version of Herbst Insight 2 has been released. Among new features it contains the address book module and potential customer role. Moreover, document validation settings, import/export facilities, sale/purchase pricing procedures, and credit control are essentially improved. Here is a list of all major new features and improvements:

 - Traders:

  • New roles - consignee, haulier, potential customer - implemented. Documents according to the trader roles only can be created. (Consignee Licence required to be able to work with consignees and Haulier Licence required to be able to work with hauliers)
  • For potential customers no transactions allowed except contacts and weigh only and warehouse transactions.
  • Possibility to create traders with no role. No transactions except the weigh only and warehouse transactions and contacts are allowed for such traders.
  • The Address Book Module. It incorporates the lists of the traders according to their roles.
  • Customer Web UI Password, so that customers can access their accounts in Herbst Insight 2 over the Internet.
  • Sending E-mail to one or several traders option added to the Actions button in the traders lists (Contacts Licence required)
  • New improved Quick View window

 - Documents:

  • Document Validation settings at the user level updated. One of the three validate actions (ignore, warn, forbid) can be set for the system to perform when the users create documents which break the validation rules.
  • In Weigh Out for sale documents credit control added (Weighbridge licence required)
  • Profit Analysis added to the Weigh out for Sale Documents (accessible from the Tools button on the document Quick View) (Weighbridge licence required for all weigh documents)

 - Products:

  • Purchase prices section added to the main tab of the product quick view. Purchase Price Origin and other options can be defined here. Purchase Price Origin defines the way the system will calculate the purchase price for purchase documents.
  • New improved Quick View window
  • Purchase prices history enabled.
  • Rebates added. They are defined for a customer in the Rebates tab of the product quick view and are valid from the defined date. The rebates concern the standard prices only.

 - Import/Export of:

  • Haulier Start Date/Time, Finish Date/Time and Duration, Sale Item User Fields and Purchase Item User Fields added to the sale and purchase transactions
  • Product Rebates, Product Purchase Prices, Fuel Files, and Contracts added to the Utilities menu (Contracts licence required for work with contracts)
  • Export/Import trader spreadsheets updated with new columns (all of them are required to be filled in for correct import)
  • Data from HRM UK 2 implemented (import of data from HRM 3, HRM 4, and HRM UK 1 not supported any more)

 - Other:

  • Joining of Nominal Ledger accounts
  • Fields "Credit Customer up to" and "Freeze Customer on" added to the Company Defaults window. You can define the default values in here, which will be offered in the corresponding fields when creating a customer.
  • Checking SMS balance from the Settings->Contact->SMS Gateway on the main menu (Internet connection required) (Contacts licence required to be able to use SMS service)
  • A privilege to amend customer credit conditions added. This option is applied to the credit conditions section on the customer tab of the customer quick view. This privilege does not apply to the users with administrative privileges.


29 August 2003 Herbst HRM 5.0.3.46

A new version of Herbst HRM 5 has been released. This version includes improved pension schemes, export facilities and other innovations which make the programme more functional. Below you can find all major new features:

 - Pensions:

  • Multiple pension schemes
  • Percentage pensions
  • Pension contributions reports

 - Export to Nominal Ledger:

  • Posting of Gross pay components to individual NL accounts
  • NL Export with breakdown by sort groups

29 August 2003 Herbst MCR 1.0.3.7

A new version of Herbst MCR has been released. It incorporates period and other new features and bug fixes which improve the functionality of the programme and enhance its performance. New features include:

- Period analysis (with charts)

With the help of the period analysis you can select one or more NL accounts for analysing and select a kind of the period analysis. There are three kinds of the period analysis: Daily, Weekly and Monthly. You can display the data you get as a chart as well. There is also a possibility to preview and print the chart displayed on the screen.

- Incremental search in views, which allows you to find the information while-you-type

- Enhanced performance

- Other bug fixes and interface improvements


1 August 2003 Herbst Insight 2.0.21

A new version of Herbst Insight 2 which includes new features such as the Contacts module, SMS sending, improved quick edits, enhanced conversion of documents and a lot more has been released. Read more about new features below:

  • The Contacts module, which includes following features (requires a special licence):

        -- Scheduled and Completed contacts

        -- Creating contacts either in the Contacts List or in the Customer/Supplier Quick View (a new tab is
            added for these purpose)

        -- Sending SMS messages to one or more customers/suppliers at once from the programme added to the
            Actions command in the Customers and Suppliers lists

  • Keeping history of the sale prices. Sale price classes, special and contract prices are defined on date. Sale prices in view grids are displayed on working date.

  • If customers exceed the credit limit, they are highlighted in red when selected. A pop-up window showing the exceedings (either the amount or days, or both) is displayed as well.

  • Option to show all customers with exceeded credit in red added to the customer shortcut menu

  • Forbid new documents option for customers/suppliers in the Customer/Supplier Quick View. If you select this option for a customer/supplier, they will be displayed in grey colour in the lists. It is not possible to create new documents for these traders.

  • Driver works number (to differentiate between own and external drivers)

  • New quick edit utilities of the Sale, Purchase and Weigh Documents which are available from the document shortcut menu:

         -- Setting a Haulier

         -- Setting Item Location

         -- Setting a Consignee

         -- Setting Vehicle Details (Driver's name and Works Number, Vehicle Reg. Number and Trailer Number,
             Security Log comments)

  • Improved Quick Edit for prices

  • When creating a new Sale or Weigh out for Sale Document, the Consignee equals the Customer by default

  • Import of sale prices, special prices and discounts from MS Excel

  • Conversion of Sale, Purchase and Weigh Documents to Haulage Sale Invoices

  • A column with the trader name and code is added to the Create Pending Transactions Window

  • Columns in the Customers and Suppliers lists (date and time of entry, excess credit, overdue by amount, overdue by days)

  • When creating a BOM product, it is possible to add several products at once

28 July 2003 Herbst MCR 1.0.2.2

Herbst MCR is unique software from Herbst Computer Software. It aims at analysing Nominal Ledgers of several companies which have Herbst Insight 2 installed as their accounting system. This version incorporates new features and adds to the programme functionality.

- Selecting an interval for analysis (like in Herbst Insight 2)
- Synchronization of account sort fields and values (added to Add New Subcompany and
   Subcompany Properties wizards)
- Importing and showing budgets (by default they are not shown in views but can be added
   via the Customize fields command)
- Improved synchronization of Nominal Ledgers
    -- drag-and-drop from the left-hand pane to the right-hand one
    -- creating and editing accounts in the right-hand pane
    -- blue colour in the right-hand pane for the accounts not presented in the
        Herbst Insight 2 Company
    -- a column showing the amount of unsynchronized accounts added to the left-hand pane

30 June Herbst Backup Scheduler 1.0.3.25

A new version of Herbst Backup Scheduler has been released. It added new features to the programme and improved its functionality.

12 June 2003 Herbst HRM for United Kingdom 2.0.2

This version incorporates changes in PAYE according to the new Budget 2003 which come into effect from 15 June 2003. Besides it includes some small improvements like "Refresh on demand" option in grids.

Payroll improvements:
- Implemented requirements of the new Budget 2003 for PAYE which come into effect from 15 June 2003.

The rates of tax and bandwidths for 2003/2004 are as follows:
Starting Rate 10% - up to 1960;
Basic Rate 22% - 1,961 to 30,500;
Higher Rate 40% - over 30,500.

User interface improvements:

- Added "Refresh On Demand" option in grids.
- Calculated timesheet are shown in read-only mode.
- Pound symbol is displayed independently of Windows Regional settings (Regional options).

Fixed bugs:

- Access violation under Win98 after closing the program.
- Different file extensions for grid layout files ("Grid Layouts" dialog and "Load/Save current layout to/from file" in lists).
- Error when an user is selecting default bank by typing symbols.
- Duplicating of "All" choice in Supervisor filtering combo-box ("Jobs" list).
- Incorrect displaying of a currency symbol in the Grid printing utility.

Other small improvements and bug fixes.

The first version for the 2003-04 tax year incorporating the last statutory requirements which come into effect from 6 April 2003. A lot of new features in payroll and job costing modules. Improved graphic user interface.

New features:

  • Sale Invoice Direct Printing (Cash Sale and Sale Invoice dialogues) is available if you have Direct Print license.
  • Company Login dialog -> Connections button: now you can define and store different connections which you can use when login to companies.
  • In user previleges "This user can enter weight manually" option appeared. This option allows to control manual weighing from document.
  • Improve Product QV -> Location tab: add Period Analysis and Transactions sections. Filter by Location. Note. If you do not see new tabs, go to Settings -> Security -> Users -> select a user -> More Privileges tab -> Product quick view -> tick the tabs you want to see.
  • Improve Contract QV: add Summary By Product lists for Invoicing, Delivering, Ordering, Weighing
  • Print option in Summary Quick Views. Note. If you do not see new tabs, go to Settings -> Security -> Users -> select a user -> More Privileges tab -> Contract quick view -> tick the tabs you want to see.

  • Join AccManager2.exe with Acc2.exe. This means that now we don't have AccManager2.exe file. Insight 2 Server Manager is invoked from Insight Client now. If you want to see only Server Manager window (and hide Insight Client window) you can run Insight Client with command line option /ServerManager.
  • Settings -> Document -> Numbering Counter: allow user to set document numbering counter. Counter values influence on the document numbering rule (Setting -> Document -> Document Settings).
  • Add Cost Of Sales, Gross Profit, Margin and Mark-up columns to Customer QV -> Sales -> Period Analysis.
  • Copy All To File With Captions is added to Insight list's popup menu. It can export grid to csv (comma-separated value) or xml file. For csv export a separator is List Separator from Windows Regional Options. Export Items in the List
  • Document -> Entry List page -> NL Entries: NL Account Quick View item is added to popup menu. It is invoked by double-click.
  • New multi-trader statements using subtraders relationships.
  • Nominal Ledger Account Statement. Any account statement can be printed from date to date with op and cl balance.
  • Now speed of data loading can be increased in Customer Sale Transactions, Sales Items, Contract Sale Transactions lists if the following columns are invisible: Cost Of Sales, Gross Profit, Margin Of Gross Profit, Markup Of Gross Profit.
  • Enhanced Tip Label in insight lists: band separator appeared.
  • Cash Sale dialog is available now in Insight Light (without any licence).

We have published a new version of Herbst Insight that added new features to program functionality. Among them subtraders, refreshing grids on demand, VAT3 Return submission via ROS, enhanced profit analysis in Sale document, EASIWeigh Import, Contract Summary, EDI support and more.

New features:

  • New fields in Contract Summary Quick View.
  • NL Accounts columns to Product Group List.
  • Accounts columns in Product List show inherited from product groups accounts.
  • Import from HRM 5. Eliminated support for HRM 3.
  • Subtraders. See Parent Trader filed in Traders Quick View, lists and Import/Export.
  • Columns "Contract Prices" in Contract, Product and Customer lists.
  • Minimum VAT Rate changed from 12.5% to 13.5% for 2003. It will affect only new databases created in version 19. Change rates manually for existing databases.

    IMPORTANT: This filed is used for EDI.
    In previous versions this field was stored in Customer Our Account field.
  • Customize View columns dialog display "Main" in filter for main columns.
  • Customer/Supplier Allocation in Contracts/Actions.
  • Insight adds a message to notes for issue transfers exported to EFTS file.
  • Show Security Log for unposted documents.
  • Transaction Profit in Sale Invoice -> Profit Analysis. It will calculate profit using cost price calculated for the transaction according to stock valuation method in use.

    IMPORTANT: To export documents created in previous versions you need to set Consumer Units Per Unit field value in product item dialog. You also need to setup an EDI code field in Settings\General\VAT Codes dialog and GLN in Company Information.

It is a maintenance update fixing some problems found in version 5.0.1:

  • Error message "Invalid request blr at offset ... Function ... is not defined.
    Module name or entry point could not be found".
  • Incorrect calculation of Total Debits and Total Credits fields
    in Nominal Ledger Entries report.
