The first version for Tax Year 2007 incorporates budget changes coming into effect from 1 January 2007 and provides a way to include taxable portion of Disability Benefit into taxable gross pay.

  • Budget changes in PAYE:
    • Higher rate of tax has been changed from 42% to 41%.
    • New Single Person Tax Credit and Cut-Off Point (used for PAYE on emergency basis):

The full list of new features and tools in this version covers the following ones:

  • New "Summary by Week" & "Summary by Month" views

    In the "Summary by Week/Month" views totals like quantity of employee days, quantity of normal hours, presence, late comings, etc. are shown for each week/month in a user selected period.

  • Possibility to define how to allocate overtime in timesheets.

    1. Overtime hours can be transferred from the normal rate to overtime rate, thus decreasing normal rate totals by the quantity of overtime hours. In payroll, the amount of overtime due is one-and-one-half times the employee's normal hourly rate.

    2. Overtime hours will be added to one of the normal hourly rates; the other hourly rate (usually an overtime hourly rate) shows adjustment or bonus hours for the overtime. In payroll, you have to pay all hours worked at normal rate and overtime/bonus hours at one-half of the normal hourly rate.

  • Possibility to synchronise the card reader devices's time with the time of your computer.
  • Back/Forward buttons are added to views enabling convenient switching between adjacent windows.
  • New "Error" column in the timesheet views. In case the timesheet for an employee is calculated with an error, the error description will be displayed in this column.
  • If an Employee Day is calculated with an error, the error description can be seen in the "Activity" section.
  • "Safety Statements" and "Working Contracts" views are made to be identical with the ones in Herbst HRM/HRM UK.
  • New "Overtime Rule Quick View" option in the timesheet views.
  • New facility to add notes when using the Clock In/Clock Out tools.
  • Quick Start-Up Guide is included into the Installation Package.
  • Index is displayed within the tabs of the Help window.

  • When you quick enter products, the following information is available to you:

    Product code is shown in the window caption together with the customer/supplier part number (if the one exists in the Product Record);
    "Purchase Price" is shown for the product in purchase documents;
    "Sale Price", "Discount Rate" and "Net Sale Price" are shown for the product in sales documents.
    Product description (if the one exists in the Product Record) is shown.

  • Pick Tool is added in views.
  • Main Menu preserves customisation when upgrading to a new Herbst Insight 2 version.
  • Facility to view contact description in a split screen view in Contacts views.
  • Facility to open a document in the report preview form just after saving it.
  • If there's only one report available for an object, the Select Report window won't be shown. Instead the programme will automatically select the only available report.
  • "Export to file", "Export to PDF", "Export to Word", "Export to Excel" and "Send to mail recipient" buttons are added to the toolbar in views which are in the Report mode.
  • Report Export Options are added. You can choose between exporting current or all of the reports as well as specify a file naming rule.

  • New "Product Sales (Compare with Last Year)" report (Report Desktop > Sales Reports > By Product).
  • Customer/supplier part numbers are added to default items names in sale/purchase documents.

This version boots productivity of your business due to the following features:

  • Product Posting Model 2.


  • Since now you can choose how to reflect your product-related transactions in the Nominal Ledger: either in old style using Opening and Closing Stock accounts simulating Periodical Inventory System rules, or a new posting style following the comprehensible rules of true Perpetual Inventory System.
    In addition, the new posting model normalizes the use of the Cost Amount field in the documents. Firstly, by means of forbidding their use in places where they cannot be used for purposes other than compatibility with Insight 1. Secondly, by means of providing detailed explanations on how the fields can be used in the document item windows.

  • New report "Product sales (12 periods, Net Quantity)".
  • New report "Aged Analysis by Sales Manager (12 periods)".
  • The Your Account field in statement reports.

Due to the following features the new version brings your attendance management to a new level:

  • New Reports module containing standard Timesheet and Employee Day Status reports is added. Existing reports can be customised and new ones can be created with the help of the Report Designer tool.
  • Contents and Index is added to the Help menu.
  • New Employees Calendar view showing employees' list and day information for a month.
  • New Activity view showing employees' activities for a selected period.
  • Employee Day Preview feature showing details of a selected employee dayat the bottom of the view. Available in the Status, History and Calendar views.
  • From now on Employee Days will be created even if there's no shift assigned to this day.
