Nowadays just having a business management system is not enough. What of
vital importance is getting access to it at any time from any place. As far
as it is an open system you can get access to Herbst Insight 2 from a whole
range of devices. Modern technologies that are based on industrial standards
provide facilities to get connected to Herbst Insight 2 using the stationary
and mobile devices described below. If you are not familiar with the
technologies you can read their overview first to better understand the
connectivity facilities.Technologies Overview
Client Software is Herbst Insight 2 client, an independent
application, which is used to work with Herbst Insight 2 server.
Terminal Services technology gives your computer the ability to
display the screen of another computer and run all its programmes. The other
computer can be located anywhere in the world, the usability and efficiency
depends only on the connection speed between the two computers. Security
depends on a type of the connection.
The Terminal Services technology requires fast and stable connection with
a good response speed. If the connection is slow, you may experience delayed
command executions and deterred interface depiction.
Web User Interface technology gives your computer the ability to
get access to Herbst Insight 2 by using only a web-browser (Internet
Explorer, etc.). In this case what you view on your computer depends on your
role in Herbst Insight 2. For the time being, Herbst Insight 2 employs
Customer Web User Interface which gives customers the facility to view their
accounts in the programme and place orders for selected products.
In fact, any Web User Interface can be developed to meet the needs of
suppliers, managers, and so on. This connection is secure because all data
transmitted is encrypted.
Using Desktop Computers
Desktop computers are primarily used to get wired access to Herbst
Insight 2. A high-speed connection (over 10 Mbps, such as LAN, etc.) ensures
usability and efficiency, when you use the client software,
terminal services, and web interface technologies. But using a
low-speed connection (Dial-up, etc.) ensures availability where a high-speed
one is not available.
If a wired access is not available, you can use wireless one (Wi-Fi,
GPRS, Bluetooth, etc.) and still get connected and get the work done.
Using Laptops/Tablet PCs
These types of devices are usually used to get both wired and wireless
access to Herbst Insight 2. A high-speed connection (over 10 Mbps, such as
LAN, Wi-Fi, etc.) ensures usability and efficiency, when you use the
client software, terminal services, and web interface
technologies. But using a low-speed connection (Dial-up, GPRS, Bluetooth,
etc.) ensures availability where a high-speed one is not available.
Using PDAs
PDAs primarily can be used to get wireless access to Herbst Insight 2. A
high-speed connection (over 10 Mbps, such as Wi-Fi, etc.) ensures usability
and efficiency, when you use special client software for PDAs. When
using GPRS, the speed is lower, but it still can be used where Wi-Fi is not
available.
Terminal services and web interface as well as a regular client part can
also be used, but on the small PDA screen, you will have to scroll a lot
when working with it, and it is not convenient and usable.
Any wired connection (LAN, Dial-up, etc.) can also be used, though it is
not very common.
Using Smartphones
Smartphones can be primarily used to get a wireless access to Herbst
Insight 2. A high-speed connection (over 10 Mbps, such as Wi-Fi, etc.)
ensures usability and efficiency, when you use special client software
for Smartphones. When using GPRS, the speed is lower, but it still can
be used where Wi-Fi is not available.
Terminal services and web interface can also be used, but as the Smartphone
screen is small, you have to scroll a lot, and it is not convenient and
usable.
You can also connect your Smartphone to Herbst Insight 2 over a wired
connection (LAN, Dial-up, etc) and carry on with your work.
In fact, you can use any device described above with any
of the technologies and connections described below to get access to Herbst
Insight 2. The point is that you always have a choice to get the job done
the way you want it.
Connections Overview
Two major kinds of connections can be employed to access Herbst Insight
2: wired and wireless, and already within those kinds, different types
exist.
Wired
LANs are capable of transmitting data at very fast rates; but the
distances are limited, and there is also a limit on the number of computers
that can be attached to a single LAN.
The dial-up connection cannot boast high speed, but it can ensure a
diverse range of places from where you can get access to Herbst Insight 2.
Because dial-up access uses normal telephone lines, the quality of the
connection is not always good and data rates are limited.
Wireless
Wireless connection such as Wi-Fi ensures high speed but limited
mobility, but such connection as GPRS ensures real mobility, but low
speed. Bluetooth ensures very limited mobility and low speed, but
what it does ensure is absence of wires.
Additional hardware and software may be required on your devices, or
you may have to be a subscriber of a service provider. |
